PC novella

Ideas that were being thrown around about a future world where being politically correct is mandatory in all parts of public and social life. You aren't allowed to potentially offend anyone.

a PC novella? Like, a 2050 setting where Political Correctness and "happiness for all" permeate society. Perhaps 2150 so it could include the abolition of the white race and no two white people could be together, they had to mix blood to be PC and not racist.

I'll have to finish Brave New World then read 1984. I just know that the government in 1984 is supposed to be extremely oppressive of its people, but I don't know how the people respond to it. the idea of PC would be that average people want and allow this to happen. And white people are made to feel guilty for the color of their skin because of what their ancestors did. Any european-white descendant would be rare, and be the minority.

Also planned on having some kid expelled from school (or killed) for writing a paper and presenting it before class on his parents (a mother and father) because it is against the politically correct agenda to publicly herald the mother/father together since 1) not everyone has both parents and would make some feel left out (broken homes); 2) not everyone has a father or a mother (gay couples) and would feel that the relationship is wrong compared to traditional relationships.

The idea at this stage, it's supposed to start out as basically a utopia of happiness and gaiety. Then you slowly start seeing some of the effects widespread PC culture leads to. Then the main protagonist who was billed as a fine person is eventually persecuted for being different and challenging order. Of course, I still want to read 1984 and finish BNW first. Both saw different ways that the leaders controlled the world. Both ways are somewhat true. Political Correctness is another angle to control the citizens, together with all the oppression of citizens while feeding them extremely large amounts of useless information to keep the less riled up ones preocupied, it makes people with things to say "outsiders" that preach "bigoted, racist, sexist heresy".

The premise would just be taking it to extremes. You know that they've already banned words like "parents" from some schools because it would make children without traditional parents, or both parents uncomfortable. Things like "Guardians" are PC. Or "obese" is banned because it can hurt feelings. A long while ago (may have a link somewhere) I read about things like "swimming pools" and other luxurious items being banned from inner city school tests and curriculum, because it would make the kids who didn't own luxurious items feel poor, and feel bad. PC bans the organizations or institutions from words or conduct. The extreme is not permitting the children themselves from even speaking of such a thing in public.

Words that suggest wealth are excluded because they could make kids jealous. “Poverty” is also on the forbidden list.


I'm amused at the desire for political correctness at one end, and horrified at the other. Because a lot of it sounds ridiculous, but it will have its supporters and support that will grow in time. I really think we'll have a future where there are absolutely no public mentions of race, religion, gender or politics allowed because someone somewhere could feel offended or challenged.

Sub cultures and interests are to be protected. Meaning you can't say anything negative about emo, goth, punk, wigger, otaku, geek, nerd, popular, jocks, whatever other subculture and clique available. It will all soon be protected.

PC supports equality and that men should not be taught to behave like men. That women should not be taught to behave like women. We are supposed to all meld into a single entity with the same mindset, same ideals and goals, same interests, and tolerance. It is maddening.

I was thinking every character could have a kind of unisex name or a slight varient. Stacey and Staci, Daniel and Danielle, Alexis and Alex, Joe and Jo, etc. And that there would be no "Mr. Mrs. him her she he son daughter father mother aunt uncle" or any reference to genders allowed in society.

Was also thinking about forced interracial marriage. By the 10th generation (if a new generation is about every 25 years that's 250 years) there would be no more white, black, chinese or other (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caucasoid,_Negroid,_Mongoloid) Anyone wanting to marry and breed within their own race would be slandered as a racist who only loves because it is "its" own race, and could not love someone outside of that. So the whites marry to blacks, and asians, and latinos, and then America turns into basically that episode of southpark where everyone is of one.
